PLEEBO, March 20 (LINA) -The Liberia National Police (LNP) Maryland detachment is currently investigating a 38-year-old man identified as Joshua Odarbeh, for allegedly attempting to sell his 11-year-old son, Prosperous Odarbeh.
Joshua Odarbeh, who is currently being detained at the Pleebo Police Depot was arrested upon his arrival from Grand Kru County on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
According to reports, suspect Odarbeh has contacted a local cellphone vendor and an underground artist, Abraham Weah, alias DJ Cassava Leaf via text message, expressing his desire to sell his own son, but the local vendor requested that such deal doesn’t require a telephone conversation, but a face-to-face discussion.
The response from the potential buyer (Abraham Weah) prompted Odarbeh (the suspect) to make his way from Grand Kru County to Pleebo in Maryland County with the hope of deepening the illegal trade discussion.
Unfortunately for the suspect, Abraham Weah had already alerted the LNP about the conversation between he and Odarbeh, which resulted in the subsequent arrest of the suspect upon his arrival in Pleebo, Maryland County.
In an interview with reporters, suspect Odarbeh admitted to the act, terming his action as a “demonic attack” that came over him.
While Odarbeh is expected to be charged and forwarded to court, police have invited Abraham Weah for questioning about his link to the illicit human trade.
However, Abraham Weah denied his involvement with trade in human parts, denouncing doing any previous transaction with the suspect.
The incident has raised concerns, as Maryland County has been stigmatized for the mysterious disappearance of people and ritualistic killings over the years.
