MONROVIA, March 20 (LINA) – The Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) has continued to implement multiple projects and critical infrastructural Development initiatives spearheaded by the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Jeremiah Kpan Koung across Nimba county, his home region.
According to a statement issued Thursday, March 20, 2025, LACE disclosed that the projects, which are pivotal to improving the livelihoods of the citizens, are being financed by the Government of Liberia and implemented by the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE).
The release added that the developments span key sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and hospitality, ensuring that communities benefit from enhanced facilities and services.
Recognizing the urgent need for improved healthcare facilities, the Vice President has prioritized the construction of multiple health centers across Nimba County which aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare to the people, particularly those in remote areas.
The LACE statement also added that the ongoing health infrastructure projects include: Bahn Health Center – Enhancing medical services for the people of Bahn and its surrounding communities as well as Butuo Health Center – Addressing healthcare gaps in Butuo by providing a well-equipped medical facility and also Gbloulay-Kanplay health center projects respectively to bring essential medical services closer to residents in Gbloulay and strengthening healthcare delivery in Karnplay.
These facilities, once completed, will offer vital medical services such as maternal and child healthcare, emergency treatment, and preventive care, significantly reducing the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances for treatment.
“To facilitate movement and economic activities, the Vice President has also focused on constructing crucial transportation infrastructure, one of the major projects is the Boe Bounlay Bridge, which will enhance connectivity between communities, allowing for the smooth transportation of goods and people”, the release noted.
It added that the bridge under construction is expected to boost trade, education, and healthcare accessibility within the region.
Beyond healthcare and transportation according to the release, the Vice President is also ensuring that Nimba County has improved lodging facilities evident by the Dinplay Guest House being constructed to provide decent accommodation for visitors and government officials working in the area as the facility will serve as a hub for development discussions, meetings, and relaxation for stakeholders investing in the region.
LACE also cited that the Vice President’s unwavering commitment to development in Nimba County underscores his dedication to the welfare of the people.
With government funding and LACE’s expertise in project implementation, these infrastructural developments are progressing steadily, promising a brighter future for residents as the projects near completion, they will significantly contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Nimba, ensuring that communities have access to essential services and improved quality of life.
