TUBMANBURG, March 6 (LINA) – Four members of the Bomi County Civil Society Organization have been detained by the Tubmanburg Magisterial Court on allegations of Fraud, Financial Mismanagement, misapplication of Interested property and theft.
According to the Court Writ Issue on March 3, 2025, the alleged perpetrators mismanaged money and materials in a total value of about $364,710 Liberian Dollars.
The court documents further indicated that the defendants Sam Cole, acting civil society chairperson, Moses Sah, Prince Fromoyan, Augustus Momo will remain detained while investigations continue into the matter.
Also, the court documents indicated that the complaint was filed by one of the Bomi CSO members, Omasco Kamara who alleged that his colleagues criminally and illegally received 190, 535.00 (one hundred and ninety thousand, five hundred and thirty-five) Liberian dollars following the allotment given to the civil society of Bomi County through the county development fund, but the money has not been accounted for.
Kamara also disclosed that each of the accused persons upon receiving the money individually took ten thousand Liberian dollars amounting to 40,000.00 (Forty Thousand) Liberian dollars stressing that the act by those CSO members is criminal, illegal and violated chapter 10 and 15 of section 10.2 and 15.5 of the New penal law of Liberia.
The complainant further explained that the Bomi CSO also received additional items to include: One Printer value 57,000.00 LRD, One Computer value 14,000.00 LRD, Four (4) bottles of INK for the printer value. 38,000.00 LRD and Five (5) pieces of extension cord value over 18,175.00 LRD totaling 227.175.00 LRD.
