GBARNGA April 7 (LINA) – The Chairman on Ways Means and Finance at the Liberian Senate, Senator Prince Kermue Moye, has disclosed plans to include the reconditioning of the deplorable Gbarnga-Buchanan Road corridor in the 2026 national budget to ease transportation constraints faced by thousands of residents.

Speaking in Bong County on April 5, 2025, Senator Moye said, the Gbarnga-Buchanan corridor is essential to the growth and development of the two sister counties, but the deplorable road challenge has been a major factor responsible for the slow pace of economic growth in that part of Liberia.

According to him, his intention to seek an allotment in the 2026 national budget for the pavement of the Gbarnga-Buchanan road corridor will be a major priority decision under his leadership as Chair on Ways Means and Finance because of the significance of the road.

The corridor which passes through large towns and villages including Botota, has been very deplorable over the years to an extent where several inhabitants including women and children have lost their family members simply because the area is inaccessible thereby preventing emergency vehicles such as ambulances from reaching patients.

Over the years, inhabitants have raised concerns over the deplorable nature of the road by calling on the government through their local county officials and the county’s legislative caucus to make timely intervention into the situation.

The route passes through Kokoyah Statutory District which is one of the major sources of the local economy promoting mining activities, food security as well as trade by marketers respectively.
