MONROVIA, April 17 (LINA) – As the people of Nimba County go to the polls on April 22, 2025, to replace their fallen political “Godfather” – Prince Y. Johnson, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Sr. has called on the young people of the county to place unity above everything else, emphasizing that peace plays a critical role in the development of the county and the country at large.

During his community engagement tour in Nimba County on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Liberian Vice President pleaded with the young people of the country, particularly those in Nimba County, to remain united during and after the upcoming Nimba County by-election.

VP Koung cautioned them to eschew violence, invective, and divisive behavior in their political support, noting, “As politicians, we often collaborate in Monrovia, and I cannot allow you, as young individuals, to jeopardize your future by engaging in conflict or attacking one another’s families and leaders in the name of defending a candidate. Remember, politics is transient”, he said.

He encouraged the young people to co-exist and should not allow politicians to sow the seeds of division intended for their political gains, saying the youth are the backbone of every country.

The Liberian Vice President, who began his community engagement tour Friday, April 11, 2025, inspected several projects initiated by him while he was serving as Senator of Nimba County.

During this tour, he broke grounds for the construction of a bridge in District #8, Nimba County, as he donated bags of cement to communities in Districts #1, #2, and #8, pledging to initiate more projects across the county beginning 2026.

Vice President Koung, throughout his tour, visited several communities, including Duo, Kpein, Bunadin, Slarpea, Gbei Sealah, Garr Busie, Garr Dangamon, and Neegbin, among others.

While visiting these communities, he backed the candidature of Rep. Samuel G. Kogar and encouraged the citizens to support the senatorial bid of Rep. Kogar in the upcoming Nimba Senatorial by-election scheduled for April 22, 2025.
